Will women need to go on a sex strike until this madness ends ?
Was Aristophanes right all along ?
Men have always been hankering after wars which women don’t want to have. Does it, at some level, turn them on?
But there was a time, before land stopped being shared and men stepped in to help ‘protect’ it from marauding invaders, when women didn’t live inside a patriarchy like this.
Go back in time to Turkey 8000 years ago and you might find as a woman, particularly one with children, that your voice would be listened to much more than it is today.
But then the boys all started fighting. And it never really stopped.
I should be editing my novel now. But then my heat-frazzled brain stopped to read the news and it felt like it was actually going to explode. I can’t keep up with the number of wars on the horizon. Can you?
Then I got that feeling - a bit like something taking over the Hulk - do you ever get that too on here ? - that words just needed to come out. Needed a release.
Anger can be a good thing at times. Not in the hands of unhinged despots with primary school brains threatening nuclear strikes like an online battle of ‘Total War.’ But it can be good when it rouses the protective lioness instinct which sits inside many of us women. That instinct that pounces on the enemy and tells it ‘do not harm my young.’
The most dangerous animal in the natural world isn’t the alpha male. It is a female whose young have been threatened. You do not want to be on the receiving end of that fury.
I know if anyone threatened the life of my children, it wouldn’t take me long to take out an aggressor. That protective but very lethal instinct would kick in immediately, as it would for all the other mothers out there.
Not that you need to have children to help stop this madness. Your other assets are more important for this.
Imagine if women used those assets to band together and sort out this mess? Imagine if we used the one secret weapon we all have at our disposal?
If it was good enough for Ancient Athens and trying to end the Peloponnesian wars, then why isn’t it good enough for us?
Picture it.
A worldwide sex strike.
Older women acting as the strategic planners, just like in the Aristophanes play ‘Lysistrata.’ Younger women beautifying themselves but completely refusing to play ball until sense prevails.
Impossible women openly manipulating men to change the status quo. To stop war and bring peace.
As Aristophanes says in the play
‘There is no beast, no rush of fire, like a woman so untamed. She calmly goes her way, where even panthers would be shamed.’
Trump, Vance, Putin or Bibi feeling frisky? All that talk of war making their pricks stiff ? Tough. Get someone to strap on a phallus. No woman is willing to oblige. No matter how big the bribes.
How long do you think they would last? If all the women in the world banded together to do it?
How long could they function without our sweet seductive charms? How long before we would earn the title ‘peace makers’?
One day we might have to think laterally. Dig very deep.
Until then, let me have my daydream.
Thank you for reading the Nous Trap.
Didn't some miners' wives try this during the coal strike ...?
I can relate to your post. It's a powerful thought.
